Wine Review: Herdade da Comporta: Chão das Rolas 2010 Red

Herdade da Comporta: Chão das Rolas 2010 Red

Region: Comporta (Sétubal)

Winemaker: Francisco Pimenta

Varietals: Castelão, Aragonez, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah.

ABV: 14%

PH: 3.7

Acidity: 5.40 g/l

Color: Ruby

Nose: Strawberries, Cumin

Body: Medium

Taste: Berries, Oak, Sea Salt

Finish: Long

Suggested Pairings: Veal, light pasta, goat cheese

Price: 3.50 Euros

Rating: 8/12

Our Comments: A drinkable wine at a reasonable price point. Smoothness and upfront strawberry and raspberry flavors complement the long finish that is salty and oaky. It is a safe wine that will serve well as a table wine at low cost. However, it isn’t remarkable and there are other wines that make a bigger impression at the same price point.
